E85 vs. Gasoline (E10)

What is E85? E85 is a type of fuel that was made to reduce CO2 emissions. 85 percent of ethanol mixed with 15 percent of gasoline. The fuel is also cheaper by 5 to 20 percent. Many places it is running you $1.50 per gallon. that is better than spending the $2.00 for gas. But is it worth it? Edmunds did a study with a Chevrolet Tahoe with Flexfuel comparing these two fuel types. They did a road trip from San Diego to Las Vegas with both gas and e85. The results were that the gas was doing better mpg than the E85 fuel. The Tahoe was doing 18.3 mpg on gas and the E85 was doing a stunning 13.5 mpg. In other words, they lost 26.5 more fuel with the E85 then with gas. But it is just money, doesn’t our environment mean more to us than a few lost bucks? In this test they also measured the emissions for the Tahoe. On gas the output was 706.5 pounds out CO2. That is a lot of pollution. The E85 did about the same at 703.1 pounds of CO2. Wait, but that’s only a 0.5% decrease in pollution! Is this fuel really worth it? Let me know what you think.

2004 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R (My Sadie)

I consider this to be the best motorcycles ever created. Why is that? For the simple reason that I own one. They were priced at $8,000 – $9,000 in 2004 and currently go for around $5k to 4k now. I love Sadie (the name I gave my bike). With a horizontal in-line 4-cylinder liquid cooled engine and a 6-speed transmission, this bike really takes off. The response time is insanely fast. The handling is also a really great plus. Leaning from side to side is smooth and going over a bump doesn’t have to hurt. Want a bike for yourself or want to know more? Let me know in the comments!

2006 Nissan 350z Fairlady

A cool sports car and a killer drifter, The 350z really made drifting look easy with the wide wheel base and when you slapped on those nice fat wheels, the thing would slide side to side with out a problem. With 306 hp produced with the 3.5 liter v6 the Fairlady really made the ride fast and crazy! But the precision handling and the powerful brakes makes it safe while slipping into those corners. 6 speed manual gearbox and a 2 seater, this car is not a family car but instead, a track car but for $27,650 this is not something that anyone can store in the garage just to take out 3 times a year.

Winter driving

There are around 20 million car accidents nationwide every year. Thats 54,000 accidents a day. The main reasons are distracted driving, speaking on the phone, drunk driving and lastly swerving for animals. Many people get seriously injered because they want to save an animals life but crash doing so. So this holiday season be on the look out for those wild turkeys who might be running away from being the main course at the family table. As the snow falls and the roads become hazardous, remember to read the road signs and keep distractions away from you.  Here is a list of things you should have in your car during winter.

  1. A blanket
  2. Extra warm clothing
  3. Jumper cables
  4. Ice scraper
  5. Dried food
  6. Tire sealant
  7. Flashlight
  8. Small tool kits
  9. First aid kit
  10. Pop up cone

All these will keep you safe during the winter roads. Thank you for reading and I hope this holiday season is a good one. Let me know if you want to know more about winter driving.
