Girl’s Retreat 2016
This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the Girl’s Retreat of 2016 to Rangely Maine to the cabin that just to happens to belong to my orchestra director and her family (thanks again to Dr. Connie Drexler!).
This year’s topic was all about joy and how we can learn to fight back with it. Myself and the rest of the girls learned that if we make it a point and a discipline to be joyous and to celebrate then we can succeed in finding true joy. How? By acknowledging the fact that God loves us no matter what.
Along with the five meetings we had (and six discussion topics) all of us were able to take part in some activities. This year the main focus was Bible journaling. We would have worship and then we’d use the main verse of the worship (or another one of our choosing) to decorate a page of our Bible.
I particularly enjoyed this (even though it was difficult for me at first to draw in my Bible) because by drawing what we thought of when reading the verse, it left it engraved into our minds so that every time we looked back to the picture we would remember the words we wrote and how it inspired and touched us.
In the end, Girl’s Retreat 2016 was a huge success. All the girls were able to bond and grow closer to each other and to God.
