Celebrity of The Week: Johnny Depp

The life of the famous Johnny Depp began on June 9, 1963. He was son of a city engineer named John Christopher Depp, and a waitress/homemaker Betty Sue Palmer. After the death of his grandfather, Johnny Depp was relocated to Florida. At 16 years old, following the divorce of his parents, Depp dropped out of Loft Studio School, with the dream of becoming a rock musician.

While trying to follow his dream, Depp toured a Florida nightclub, with his band called The Flame. Dubbing themselves “Kids”, and with the dream of becoming famous, they decided to move to Los Angeles, California, where Depp took a job selling ballpoint pens over the phone to support himself. The band didn’t last as each of them decided to go on their separate ways.

A short while later, Depp married the makeup artist, Lori Allison, on December 20, 1983. The marriage didn’t last that long. Two years later they split. Some good came out of it because Lori Allison was the one that introduced him to Nicolas Cage, who saw potential in Depp. With a role in a popular horror series ” A Nightmare on Elm Street”, Depp received a lot of fame.

His acting career began to take off in 1987 when Depp replaced Jeff Yagher in the role of an undercover cop, Tommy Hanson, in the Canadian-filmed TV series 21 Jump Street. Johnny Depp is recognized for his ability to adapt to any role of acting that asked to play.
