2015 Spring Banquet: Best or Bust?

May 13 is right around the corner, with the Student Association’s spring semi-formal banquet on its back. The event will be taking place at Zuka’s Hilltop Barn in Spencer, MA from 5:30 to 10 P.M.. Students will be able to leave school early in order to ready themselves (you can imagine how happy this made us students). Usually the school is bubbling with excitement with people buddying up at every turn, but with so much going on (such as SA Elections and the naming of Mr. Lambert as the new principal for next year), much of the attention has been pulled away from the banquet.

However, there’s a catch to this end-of-the-year vintage-themed banquet; only SLA students and faculty are allowed to attend. This was discouraging to students that had made plans earlier in the year to invite dates from outside of SLA to accompany them.

“I’m not gonna lie, I’m actually really annoyed,” DeAnna, a Junior at SLA commented on the matter.

Some are skeptical as to the location of the banquet as well.

“I’m not gonna pay $45 dollars for a night out,” an anonymous student says. “Last time we paid around $25 dollars for ride on a yacht in the Boston bay. I’m not paying $45 to go to a wedding barn.”

Unbeknownst to most the students, SA members have reported s’mores, games, and even some karaoke in the blueprint for the event. No precise details have been released to the public as of yet.

Will SA be able to blow the students’ minds away? Or will those attending have regrets?

The deadline has been liquified and permission slips can be turned in at any time. Girls, dress checks are already taking place, so sign up ASAP!

Have you ever attended a banquet? Where did you go? What did you do?  Let us know about it in the comments below!

About Sabrina N. Mapes

There are only so many people who can say they're fans of pirates, superheroes, and violin pop; I am one of them. Some would describe me as spontaneous, others a spazz, and some a caffeine addict... that last one is no longer true.
