Recently HTC and Valve have come up with a partnership to create a virtual reality headset. This is the kind of stuff you hear about in “Back to the Future” and similar movies. We are growing in technology and are coming up with more and more gadgets that are taking leaps and bounds. Nowadays, there are a lot of companies coming up with VR (Virtual Reality) headsets. Microsoft just came out with the Hololens which the Pioneer covered a few weeks ago. You can read that article here. They have some competition because of the demand for these longed-for products. The first of which was the Oculus Rift. They have been trying to come up with the best VR headset for a long time.

The HTC Vive works much like the Oculus Rift in the sense that it has to be connected to a computer. The ideal dimensions of the room for the proper effect are 15×15. It also has laser positioning so that it can tell how you walk across the room. It also has two 1,200 x 1,080 displays that refresh at 90 fps (frame per second) so it can give you the full 360 degree feeling. The developer version of the Vive will be available later this spring, and hopefully, a consumer version will be available by the end of the year. HTC can probably except to have a bit of a lead now, due to a tragic accident that occurred this week that took the life of Microsoft’s head designer of the Hololens, Mike Ey.
