Crusaders top North Brookfield High School in back-and-forth affair, 5-4
The Crusaders of South Lancaster Academy outlasted North Brookfield High School on Tuesday after six lead changes, squeaking out a 5-4 win.
The Crusaders pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. A fielder’s choice scored Jared Allain and gave Crusaders the lead for good.
Kurt Bakerlis did his best to jumpstart the offense for Crusaders, reaching base two times. He singled in the sixth inning.
Isaias Santana got the win in relief for Crusaders. Isaias pitched two innings and allowed one run.
Molleur couldn’t get it done on the hill for North Brookfield High School, taking a loss. He lasted just 6 1/3 innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
The top of the first saw North Brookfield High School take an early lead, 1-0.
Crusaders survived North Brookfield High School’s surge and put up two runs of its own in the first. Crusaders scored on a two-run single by Nick Morin.
It didn’t take long for Crusaders to answer as it scored three runs of its own in the seventh.
