SLA ready for baseball

As some of you have heard, SLA is having a baseball team this spring for the first time. Many students are excited for this opportunity to play baseball as it is something new. This will be the first baseball team at SLA in more than a decade. Many students have been begging the athletic director to try and put a team together and see who is interested and who is willing to play. Coaches will be Jeffrey Lambert, a teacher/ Vice Principal at SLA, Josh Simulus, former baseball coach at Southwestern Adventist University, also Son-in-law of a teacher at SLA. Assistant coaches will be Chris Irgang, Jay Diller, both former high school  baseball players and also SLA Alumni.

Season will begin the middle of March, all the games will be away as SLA does not have a usable field as the field hasn’t been used for its purpose in years. The Crusaders will be in the MIAA Junior-Varsity level, and the season goes to the end of the school year.

Head Coach, Jeffrey Lambert, Vice-Principal, when asked about his feelings towards the upcoming season, he stated, “I’m really excited that SLA will have a baseball team again, I remember when i was in High School, we had a Baseball team for one year, it was a lot of fun and i really want to bring that experience and opportunity back to our students.”

Players will be required to purchase their own gloves, and cleats. Bats and uniforms will be provided at a small registration fee.baseball and glove closeup
