Crusaders Win 1st V-Ball Game Without Seniors

The South Lancaster Academy girls volleyball team, against all odds, beat their rivals Thursday September 12 in Worcester against Abby Kelley Foster. This win was even more impressive, considering the team was without the Seniors, who were away on their annual “Senior Survival” trip. They narrowly won the game, winning 2 of 3 sets. The game was a first showing for many of the Crusader players, and yet they all remained calm and played their hearts out on the court.

The Lady Crusaders put in work as Freshmen Isadora Ferreira and Eighth Grader Megan Comley led the way in scoring. In general, the many underclassmen who had little to no experience before this game played with the skill of veterans.

Amber Sanchez, Junior, Lady Crusaders said, ” We were confident as a team and knew we could win. All we had to do was work together and conquer the court.”

Sophomore Jaki Windover said, “This is just the beginning of the season, we have to keep it up and stay motivated and confident.”

Eighth Grader Megan Comley stated “I was really excited to play my first Varsity Volleyball game, I was pretty nervous but after i saw the first serve i began to calm down and started playing smart”

The Lady Crusaders will confront the Bears later on in the season at South Lancaster Academy on October 10 at 4:00 pm. The Bears will have a chance to get revenge, or get defeated again.
