Patriots 2013 Top Three Draft Picks

Now that the 2013 NFL draft is over, everyone is interested in who their team has picked and whether the new picks will contribute enough to their team. Well the Patriots have made their top three decisions, in these first few rounds.

In the second round the Patriots got two picks since they traded their first round pick. They had the 20th pick of Jamie Collins. Collins is a offensive linebacker, he is not very consistent but he is fast around corners and is efficient in using the space he has. The Patriots did not seem to need more linebackers, but Collins is versatile and can pull back to outside linebacker, making him a good asset to the team.

Also in the second round the Patriots selected Aaron Dobsonwith the 27th pick. Dobson makes a good wide receiver. He is very capable of reaching speed quickly, which would help him lose his defender in the first few paces. However, he is not very fast and would beeasily caught. Yet, he has made it known that he can find the ball easily. He is expected to be able to stretch the field and this will help the Patriots offensive game, which has been lacking the last few years. What Dobson has exhibited will help raise Tom Brady’s confiedence by having one more option.

In third round the Patriots swooped up Logan Ryan, pick 21. Ryan is a corner back. He has extraordinary eyes for the game and is disiplined for his coverage. Many feel that Ryan is underated in his ball skills and maintaining his position, but he is well known for his run support tacklers and is in the top of that class category. Ryan is also well known as a reliable player. The Patriots tend to use a a variety of corner backs and since Ryan is so reliable the Patriots are likly to use him often in the position.

How these players will actually perform will not be seen til next year,  but fans are eagerly waiting. How do you think the Patriots new additions will improve the team? Or are they not the best additions? Do the Patriots look like they will have a better season next year? Will the offensive line improve?
