Wrath of the iPad 3: Are the Features Worth the Price?
First of all, there is no iPad 3! However there is an iPad 2012, as Apple chose to name it. Apparently Apple believes this is THE iPad to define all iPads, for lack of a better phrase, says Briley from TheTechLabs.com. As for the upgrades to all of the features, it is safe to say that it just might be worth the couple of extra bucks.
What New Features does the iPad 2012 Offer?
According to Apple’s website, here are their new features:
- Retina Display-The Retina display on the new, third-generation iPad makes everything look crisper and more lifelike. Text is razor sharp. Colors are more vibrant. Photos and videos are rich with detail. All thanks to 3.1 million pixels powered by the new A5X chip. It’s the best mobile display ever.
- 5mp iSight Camera-The new iPad features a 5-megapixel iSight camera with advanced optics, a backside illumination sensor, auto white balance, and face detection for incredible still images. And you can record 1080p HD video, too. So every moment you capture looks as great as you remember.
- Ultra Fast 4G LTE-Designed with next-generation wireless technology, the new iPad with Wi-Fi + 4G connects to fast data networks around the world — up to 4G LTE. So you can download content, stream video, and browse the web at amazing speeds.
- And as always, a whole bunch of apps for virtually anything you need, all of which look a great deal better thanks to the new Retina Display screen.
My Review: Honestly despite everything that has supposedly been changed, the only noticeable differences are the speed of the A5x Processor, the “In app display” and the quality of images that come from the camera. After having the opportunity of spending some “quality time” with the new iPad, you will definitely be impressed with the speed of the internet and , image/picture quality. However there is definitely obvious signs of a lack of ingenuity, seeing that Apple had since last June to really hit it up “Big” this time around.
Is it really worth it?: Yes! If your a “got to get it” techy kind of person. You see it was a huge deal when the iPad2 came out less than a year ago, and now as with all technology, the next new thing is the new best thing. If you have the money to spend, which is what it always comes down to, then go right ahead. But if you are looking for a more “budgety” tablet, than there is absolutely nothing wrong with the iPad2. Basically if you have the patience to wait another year when the price on the new iPad drops, do it!
