SLA Announces Partnership with Mt. Wachusett Community College
Recently, South Lancaster Academy has announced a partnership with Mt. Wachusett Community College to offer college courses to current upperclassmen. The deal would create a dual-enrollment program available to SLA students at the end of their Junior and Senior years.
Mr. Huff came up with the idea because of the school’s need to find college support for the 11th and 12th graders after the closing of Atlantic Union College, whom they previously offered college courses through. A certain GPA is not required for SLA students to take part in this program, but they are required to take an entry test which establishes where students are academically. The purpose of this is to give students a preview of their current skills compared to the courses they would be enrolling in.
The cost per course is discounted to only $30. Basic rural entry classes available include: Accounting, Allied Health, Art, Audio Engineering, Automotive Technology, Biotechnology, Broadcasting, Business, Clinical Laboratory, Communications, Computer Graphic Design, Criminal Justice and Dental Hygiene.
More information about the program will surely be unveiled next semester, but hence, you can check out their website.
