Perserverence and Unity

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24 (NIV)

“Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!” Philippians 4: 1 (NIV)

Adrian!

In the final film of the hit series Rocky, Rocky tells his son that “the world is a dangerous place and it will try it’s best to beat you down and to keep you down, it doesn’t matter how tough you are, the world will do it’s best to beat you.” We all know that that has happened or will happen in our lives, the world will do its best to beat us down for just being who we are, followers of Christ. The world will hit us, and it will hit us hard. But as Rocky also said, ” it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward.” No matter what life throws at you, not matter how much it hurts, you can’t let what hits you keep you down. Rocky was famous for his endurance, not matter how many times Apollo Creed hit him and made him go down he just wouldn’t stay down, he kept getting back up.

From  His time on earth Jesus was hit hard with every single arsenal at Satan’s possession, his brothers hated him, the Jewish nation hated him, he took on all of the sins of the world, yet still wouldn’t go down, he still kept getting up, he kept moving forward to His Father, kept moving forward to complete the plan of Salvation.

No matter how hard we are hit by sin and Satan we have to keep pushing forward; but we are not alone in this fight, there are millions of other believers who are going through the same fight, but we can only win it for ourselves if we stay together as a team, Rocky could never have gotten to become world champion without the love and support of his trainer Micky, they were and team and achieved great things together. We must be persevere and unite to achieve an even greater level of greatness, to be among the redeemed.
